I'll add it to my list of pros. I usually do as well, prefer books to movie adaptations.

I spent most of my life surrounded by normal, and they never accepted me. Made me feel like I was wrong and a freak, and constantly tried to change me.

So yeah, I relish the supernatural stuff because it's the city that took me in and the supernatural people who accepted me exactly as I am. I'm sorry you didn't have the same experience.
